Wild Flowers

This is a painting I did of wild flowers I picked in the fields near my house.  I wanted to illustrate how the petals fold and how the light creates natural shading, which is similar in how fabric folds and shadows are made.  Acrylic paint used.

Fashion Overload

This is a collage I created from magazine pages.  Putting different images together that aren't originally paired is so interesting to look at and admire.  It adds this sense of chaos that your eye can't leave.  These images are from Vogue and Nylon magazines.  On the right side, it reads 'I'm addicted to glamour' from the 2003 film Party Monster quote, 'I'm not addicted to drugs, I'm addicted to glamour.'  It's amazing what spare magazines can become with scissors and glue.

Salvador Dali recreation

This is a recreation of Salvador Dali's optical illusion painting entitled 'Ballerina in a Death's Head.'  The idea is so amazing to me, putting something as delicate as a ballerina and molding it into something as bold and frightening as the skull is perceived.  The shading is also so detailed and artfully placed.  I wanted to recreate this to learn more about painting techniques, and also because of how much I loved the painting.  All credit goes to Dali.  Acrylic paint used.

Reconstructed Dress

I made this dress for a contest, where the idea was to take old garments and make them into something new and different from the original construction.  The left side is of the original men's shirt I used.  I cut it up to create the right side, which is the finished project.  I added darts and a waistline to create a shaped dress.  The black straps and sides are taken from an old men's cotton t-shirt.

Lace Top

This is a top I created and made.  The yoke is made of lace, pieced together with a solid black cotton fabric.  There are two side darts for a better fit.  The back of the top is complete lace, with a center seam.  I wanted something that was elegant and well tailored, with a touch of edge and daring qualities.    Acetate lace and cotton fabric used.

Overcoat Sketch

This is a sketch I made of a blanket-inspired overcoat, with a black romper underneath.  The overcoat is patterned with different colored pieces, and lined with a gold metallic fabric.  The fringe is braided with the same shade of gold.  The romper is black, probably made of a silk, or a poly-cotton blend.  The inspiration is from summer nights, at a concert or festival performed at an outside venue.  Something that looks like a piece of art, yet effortlessly put together.  Colored pencil and graphite pencil used.

Dress Sketch

This is a sketch of a silk dress.  The different ombre color effects are inspired by a small flame on a candle.  When I created this, the candle being burned was black, which was used as the dress bodice and top part of the skirt.  Colored pencil and graphite pencil used.

Alexander McQueen painting

This is a painting I created of a piece from Alexander McQueen's Spring/Summer 2001 show entitled 'Voss.'  The show was set in a giant one way mirrored box that the models walked through, seeing only themselves while the audience only saw them.  All of their heads were wrapped in bandages to represent a mental institution-like feel.  This is my favorite piece he's ever created.  The inspiration is from Hitchcock's 1963 film 'The Birds.'  There are taxidermic birds all around the models head, and the skirt is made of ostrich feathers.  All credit given to McQueen.  Acrylic paint used.

Carnival Fashion Show-Part 2

Also from the carnival themed fashion show, this is another piece I created.  The inspiration is from the big tents, and also the atmosphere outside that embodies the entire show.  The headpiece is made from fresh flowers, the top is distressed with bleach and loosely fitted, complimenting the skirt that is hand painted.

Carnival Fashion Show-Part 1

This a piece I did for a fashion show that was carnival themed.  The inspiration is from the fire eaters, from the vintage freak shows.  The dress is all hand painted to resemble fire, and the top is shaped like a flame with bra underwire.  The hem is burned and charred to add to the feel of fire and its ability.

Figures in Action

This is a technique I used in the dark room of a photography lab.  I laid Star Wars action figures and a pair of craft scissors over the photo paper and developed it to create a scene from their outlines.  It's a visual representation of lyrics from the band All Time Low's song entitled 'To Live and Let Go.'

Lost in Paradise.

This is a photograph of a hunter's ladder tied to a tree in the woods.  The ladder is blurred, to show the detailing of the bark of the trees.  Written on the step is 'Paradise' because my friends and I made a fort in the area years ago, and called it Club Paradise.  Finding the area brought back thoughts of summer and innocence, but that's now all in the past.  Leaving blurred memories left in writing on this step.

Self Portrait.

This is a portrait of myself using only one color; adding black and white to make different shades of the  original color.  Acrylic paint used.
